Children’s medication often presents a number of troublesome issues:
- Conventional or commercially available medication is often not available in a correct dose or strength for all children.
- Children often have difficulty swallowing tablets or capsules because of the size
- Flavouring of some medication is not palatable or acceptable for some children
- Texture of certain medications may be undesirable to some children
Our compounding pharmacy provides solutions to these common problems. We also offer a choice of flavours to suit your child including banana, raspberry, cherry, chocolate and many others.
We also compound many nutraceuticals such as vitamins, minerals and amino acids which may be required for children to ensure they are receiving adequate nutrients. This has been shown to correct any nutritional imbalances which may worsen or exacerbate certain conditions.
For example in ADHD and autism there has been links with increased pyrrole (specifically krytopyrrole) a naturally occurring protein which binds to Zinc and Vitamin B6, eliminating these in the urine.
Zinc and Vitamin B6 play crucial roles in the formation of neurotransmitters which affect mental and nerve functioning.
At Life Compounding we also compound pyrrole primers which contain specific amounts of more absorbable forms of Zinc, Vitamin B6 and Magnesium.
